About Me

I am one of those people who likes to do too many things, and has a hard time focusing on one thing at a time.  There are TONS of things, I want to do and there doesn't seem to be enough time to do them in!  I describe myself as a realist.  My glass isn't half empty, nor half full, it simply contains the volume that exists, and has room for more.  I'm sarcastic with a dry sense of humor, and I think I'm witty.  But that's open for interpretation.

I went to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, as an Aerospace Engineer, but ended up with a degree in General Engineering with a concentration in Biomedical Engineering. My current career is Process Engineering, at a Bay Area medical device company.  However, I have ADHD (undiagnosed) with my job as well, and I'm always trying to think of new things I can do to make a living and keep my hungry mind and need for creativity satisfied.

I love my animals;  Buddy (AKA -The Buds, Buds, Killer Buds), a Meyers Parrot, Domino (AKA- D, Big D, Dom, The Stink, Demon-o, and various other choice nick names), a Catahoula Leopard Dog, and Ronin (AKA - Goober, Goobs, Mr. Magoo), a Thoroughbred horse.  They keep me from becoming a technology, rat-racing, and my-career-is-my-life drone.  My dream would be to have a mini farm one day....I'm working on it, but right now it feels more like a circus act.

I've also found creative outlets in drawing, painting, paper-making, cake/cookie decorating, sewing, and arts & crafts in general.  My current medium of choice is paper and junk.  I know, that's TWO mediums...deal with it.

Physically, I crave exercise and feeling fit.  I gave up my gym membership to save money (Remember that horse I have, he's expensive!).  But horseback riding, jogging, and the Perfect Push-up work wonders.  A little P90X every now and then doesn't hurt either. Snow season brings about an insatiable urge to snowboard, and maybe try skiing one of these days.

I ADORE my husband, Rogér, who somehow finds the patience to not only deal with, but also to love, my somewhat neurotic antics.  And now, we've got a little one on the way!  I'm sure this will change my life drastically in an amazing way.  Although, I'm still refusing to take down my snowboard racks ;)

My blog, bloem, is where I share my creative outlets.  Seeing them in writing forces me to continue to find my way in the arts and crafts world and, I'm hoping, will steer me towards that focus that I have such a hard time with.  This is where you'll find my journey to (hopefully) success and fulfillment!

I hope you'll enjoy the ride with me!
